Hunter is my older cat that is in heart failure. She takes pills daily.
My middle son, Conrad, likes cats. He was here for a visit today, and it was time for Hunter’s pills. Hunter knew this as well as I did.
Conrad sat on the futon and coaxed Hunter to come to him. It took many minutes and although I had gotten the medicine ready, I was doing other things because I didn’t expect her to jump up on his lap.
I was wrong. He asked if I still wanted to give her medicine, he had her, and I came with her pills and gave them to her. She hasn’t slobbered like that in a long time. She tried very hard to slobber all her medicine out of her mouth. Silly cat.
Now she’s not Conrad’s friend any more, but she will live longer for having spent a little time with him.
