Boredom

I keep seeing ads about how you can start watching a movie at home and then continue to watch it on another portable device. Never be bored! the ad screams. Why is that? Why are people so afraid to have any free “bored” time anymore? Does everything have to be a never-ending rush from one activity to another? Does this feeling start (or get taught) in childhood as children get herded from activity to activity. Are people afraid of what they’ll think if they ever stop long enough to think? Boredom. It was a part of growing up. It was what sparked the creativity – to find something to do – that caused the mind to contemplate all possibilities. I do not understand why people think they have to be entertained every waking minute. What happened to down time – to quiet times?

About msplayful

I am someone who finds life humorous and often share my views with friends and co-workers. Since I've been told I should be a stand-up comedian, I thought I'd see how well I could do at writing funny things that happen, or that happen in my head.
